From School Year Memories to Summer Magic. Ready for Year 5 of Art Camp!

As this school year comes to an end, I’ve been sitting back and thinking about just how full, exciting, and creative this year has been. It has definitely been one of those years where you blink and suddenly you're at the finish line wondering where all the time went.

This year was packed with so many wonderful moments. Watching students create artwork they were proud of, seeing creativity grow from the beginning of the year to the very end, helping students discover confidence in themselves, and seeing so many smiles along the way reminded me why I love teaching art so much.

We had amazing projects, messy paint days, moments of laughter, giant ideas, and those little moments where students surprise you with just how creative they can be. Those are always some of my favorite parts.

This year also held some really meaningful moments for our school family. One of my favorite memories was being part of our school's beam signing events and helping create our legacy painting. It felt so much bigger than just making art. It was about creating something that represented our students, our staff, our memories, and the heart of our school. Watching students, families, staff members, and our community leave their mark was such a special experience. Years from now, those pieces will still hold a story.

As exciting as it is to look back, it's also exciting to look forward. I’m so thankful and excited to move into a brand new school building alongside my coworkers and school family. Being part of this chapter feels really special. There is something exciting about fresh beginnings, new spaces, and imagining all of the creativity, memories, and experiences that will happen there in the years ahead.

Then came the end of the year whirlwind. Spring shows, art show preparations, GT showcase events, yearbooks, decorating, organizing, hanging artwork, creating props, and all the things that somehow happen all at once. It definitely felt like one event would end and another would immediately begin.

Was it busy? Absolutely.

Was it exhausting at times? Definitely.

But I truly loved every minute of it.

There is something really special about seeing months of hard work come together. Seeing students excited to show off their artwork, watching families walk through displays, and celebrating all the growth and creativity makes every late night and every busy moment worth it.

And now, somehow, we’re already looking toward summer.

This summer marks our 5th year of REB Creative Studio Art Camp, which honestly feels unreal to say out loud. Five years of creating, learning, painting, sculpting, getting messy, making memories, and watching young artists grow.

Art camp has always been so much more than painting on a canvas. It’s about exploring different materials, learning real art skills, trying new things, building confidence, making friends, and creating a space where artists can simply be themselves.

I’m excited for new themes, new projects, familiar faces returning, and meeting new artists joining us for the first time.

To all of my students, families, coworkers, and everyone who supported me throughout this school year, thank you. You helped make this year special.

Now let the summer creativity begin.

Year 5... we're ready for you. 🎨✨
