Ready for Summer: Creativity in Laredo and San Antonio
Summer is here and my heart is bursting with excitement. Every year, as school winds down and the sun starts to stick around a little longer, I start to feel that familiar flutter — it's time for our annual Summer Art Camps in Laredo and San Antonio!
I always say this, but it’s true every single time: going back to Laredo, my hometown, fills me with so much joy. It’s where my creative journey began, and to now be the one guiding young artists through their own journeys? That’s something really special. Laredo doesn’t have a lot of elementary art teachers, which makes it even more meaningful for me to bring these hands-on, joyful experiences to kids there. Watching their eyes light up when they try a new technique, or when their paintbrush starts to match the image in their imagination — it’s magical. I see so much talent in those little hands, and it warms my heart to help nurture it.
And of course, being back in Laredo also means I get to spend time with my family — and that’s a treat all on its own. Between art projects and paint-splattered fun, it’s so nice to sit around the kitchen table, laugh with my loved ones, and soak up those moments I miss during the school year.
In San Antonio, my second home, I get to reunite with students I’ve known for years and meet new artists ready to dive into their creativity. It’s such a treasure to watch my old students grow and evolve, and to see new faces light up when they discover how fun and freeing art can be. San Antonio’s creative community is something I’m so proud to be a part of — and summer is when the magic really happens.
Our summer camp is about so much more than art. It’s about fun, friendship, and giving kids the space to express themselves in their own unique ways. We play, we paint, we get messy, and we make memories. There’s laughter, teamwork, and lots of proud “look what I made!” moments.
If you’ve been part of our camp before, you know the feeling. And if you’re joining us for the first time — welcome! We can’t wait to create with you.
I’m so grateful for the chance to do this every year. Thank you to all the families who make it possible — I truly can’t wait to create with your kiddos this summer. Laredo and San Antonio, we’re ready for you!
Here’s to a summer full of art, heart, and hometown love. 🌞🎨
With love and creativity,
Ms. Roxy
