In this garden-themed printmaking lesson inspired by Harlem Grown by Tony Hillery, our students will explore collagraphy while learning about the impact of healthy choices. After assembling a textured printing plate, they will apply liquid tempera in layered values to create a printed background for their collage. To complete their artwork, students will add stamped elements, a trellis or pot for grounding, and optional materials like yarn or tissue paper for added texture. Through this lesson, they will also reflect on how healthy habits nourish both body and mind, fostering ambition, motivation, and meaningful social connections.
